Christine M. Budke, DVM, PhD
Dr. Christine Budke joined the faculty of the Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences, College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Texas A&M University in 2005 as an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology. Dr. Budke grew up in Ohio and received her B.A. in Biology from Colgate University and her DVM from Purdue University. Her interest in epidemiology led her to University College Dublin, Ireland and then to the University of Basel, Switzerland where she obtained a PhD. Prior to her arrival at Texas A&M University, she was conducting post-doctoral work at the University of Zürich, Switzerland. Dr. Budke’s research interests include the epidemiology of zoonotic conditions, monetary and non monetary burden of disease assessments, and international veterinary medicine and public health. Her interest in the epidemiology of zoonotic diseases has led her to the Tibetan plateau, Mexico and Peru where she has been studying the transmission dynamics and impact of zoonotic parasites. Dr. Budke is currently the course coordinator for a public health course taught during the 2nd year of the veterinary curriculum and also teaches in the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. In addition to acting as an advisor for Phi Eta Sigma, Dr. Budke has been a faculty mentor for incoming veterinary students and is the faculty advisor for the Texas A&M University Student Chapter of the Wildlife Disease Association.
